She served in Uganda for 8 years, co-founding a ministry called Christopher House Development Center, working with children of all ages, developing their skills in Art, Music, Drama, Sports and Christian Character Development. After handing the ministry over to the Ugandan leaders, she then spent 2 years with Mercy Ships, a hospital ship that ministers to people along the west coast of Africa. More recently, Shelly has connected with a small mission’s organization in Guatemala. They are working towards helping women who are widowed or raising their children alone to become self-sustaining through small business ownership.
After returning home in 2015, Shelly joined the staff of UBC as the Administrative Assistant, events planner and project manager.
One of her favorite verses is Isaiah 6:8 "Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?" And I said, "Here am I. Send me!"
